The AMD Zen 4 U-series platform makes the Intel Core P-series look obsolete. Unless if you value one or two very specific Intel features, then the new AMD Framework should be a no-brainer for most users.
We don’t really know if the photos are representative of their actual testbench unit. That said, I usually trust notebookcheck’s reviews over others. Though this one gives me some concerns since they report a 6.5w average draw for idle, which should result in a 9.3-9.4 hour runtime with the 61w battery. Unless the battery is above spec for the test unit I guess. Otherwise, the math doesn’t really match their idle draw estimate.
With the AMD 7840U:
The battery results are rather promising it seems!
Edit: there may have been some suboptimal expansion card configuration for the arstechnica review as per the framework CEO (I believe this is his reddit account? TLDR: expansion card placement matters for AMD: https://www.reddit.com/r/framework/comments/16ytxjd/saved_you_a_click_16x_better_battery_life_if_you/k3ar79v/
