X Social Media is suing X, a social media company::Elon Musk’s X is being sued by a Florida company called X Social Media for alleged unfair competition and trademark violations that it says have resulted in lost revenue.
Musk crap aside, I have a serious question: is there some kind of database of company names that you can check when deciding on a name for your business? How does stuff like this not happen much more often?
Generally businesses trademark their name, and you can check with the trademark office on what’s been registered to make sure you’re not stepping on any toes
Musk, however, is not noted for checking anything before doing it.
Sure, in the US, you can search the USPTO trademark database. It seems like it could be more straightforward…
