After just three months of enzyme inhibition, brain cells once on the brink of death were functioning more like those in healthy mice

I have nothing against mice, but I don’t think I’d want my brain to function like theirs.

Here’s the thing: it does already. That’s why mice are great early research animals.

“Close enough” is not close enough.

No reason to think that Parkinson’s would be any different.

snicker you’re citing incorrect data. You should be looking at how many wind up working in people that dont work in mice to make the argument you’re trying to make.

You’re also ignoring things that we outright reject because the side effects on mice are horrific.

And finally way to cherry pick your dataset.

congrats on having most unrelated comment of the day. in no way was i taking a position on the morality of animal testing. just the technical aspect of the current methods being used.

you’ll note that their little quoted pamplet isnt talking about the morality of the use just making the completely incorrect claims that the animal models are useless. which is just plain incorrect.

until we figure out how to create synthetic human organs they’re the best method for testing new medical procedures.
