I’m sure It will probably be fine for at least a year or two before the new owners manage to ruin it somehow but anyway I’ll just go make sure I have a full backup of my 150 gigabytes of skyrim mods.
only 150gb? you have to pump these number up! I have approx 400gb of mods (GoS Modpack)
Wonder if my lifetime membership will stick around.
Considering this at least seems more like an internal hand over than a buy out, you’re probably fine.
The big question is whether this is for the better or worse.
It’s always for the worse
Not always! Giant Bomb going independent recently is one example.
… It’s just mostly bad.
Going independent isn’t the same as being bought by another company though. Going independent is usually good, being bought by another company is usually bad.
I thought they went independent after having their independence taken by fandom?
Nah, they were never independent. They were owned by CBS prior to that, and before that they were owned by Red Ventures, and originally Whiskey Media.
i mean the current Washington commanders ownership change is at least, okay. compared to an owner who was litterally blackmailing cheerleaders on foreign soil and throwing other team coaches under the bus to distract people from his own case.
He said he’d gradually been transitioning away for some time now. But I’d like Nexus to be more forthcoming about the current owner who has apparently been increasingly active.
True, NM has been getting stricter on mods and criticism for some time now. Makes me wonder how much worse it could get.

If the new heads are crap, it doesn’t make a difference whether it’s sold or not.
So far no changes in the official UK company listings has happened for the black tree gaming ltd. (they have 14 days to list changes in ownership based on UK law). So far this seems like internal change, but we will see in the following days. But I must agree, the site has been going downhill for quite some time. “Announcement” itself was weighing in heavily on emotions than data and details, which is sleazy way of avoiding saying the important stuff. Theres no way those two had the money to do a “buyout” unless they won a lottery and if some corpo bought them out, there would be leaks or something tangible (so far theres nothing, but its too early I guess).
