ICCU failed on my 5 earlier this year, either my home charger failed and took the ICCU with it or the other way around.

Wasn’t a massive deal for me as they managed to get one next working day, but if you get stuck when they go out of stock got to be massively annoying.

Dealer had replaced a few already so quick and easy for them to diagnose and replace.

I also got the charger replaced for free as it was still under (free) extended warranty. Anything complex and i just want warranty as I don’t want to be paying when it does fuck up.

I would be reluctant to buy an older 5 or 6 that’s out of warranty as I’m not convinced they have a long term fix.

Oh goody, and I just bought a used Ioniq 6 last month! It’s been in the shop for a couple weeks now for a failed coolant valve… Here’s hoping the iccu issue is formally addressed before it seemingly inevitably fails on me! At least my dealership has been prompt about providing a rental and updates on status for this particular issue.

I filed a lemon law claim in February on my Kia EV6 because of the ICCU failure. They repurchased the car about a month ago and now I’m just waiting for a refund check since I had to make a couple payments waiting for them to schedule the surrender of the car

Did your iccu fail multiple times? Or were you able to file it as a lemon due to an unwilling/uncooperative dealership service center?

Every state’s Lemon Law is different so you’ll have to check with your attorney general. They usually have a webpage outlining their requirements for it to be considered a lemon. My car sat untouched at the dealership for over 30 business days (ended up being over 3 months before it was fixed) because the ICCUs are always on backorder so I was able to file a claim because of that

Ah, makes sense. I bought mine used and my state doesn’t allow lemon claims on used vehicles, regardless of condition at time of purchase or status of warranty, so I’m SOL if it has a fundamental issue that the manufacturer decides not to solve.

Yeah, it seems like most require it to be a new purchase and within 2 years of ownership. Fingers crossed you don’t have any issues!

I’ve already had the coolant valve fail… So what are the odds the iccu goes out immediately after, right!?

Tge ICCU thing is a common failure, there have been recalls regarding this issue.
