Additional comments:

Some HDDs also have TRIM, albeit rarely. CrystalDiskInfo will list it if it does.

R-Photo is free from what I’ve seen, and would work well in this situation due to the folder just consisting of photos.

AFAIK Disk Drill is free up to 500mb recovered
