Two week low of major pain let up today. I have been modeling a ton of stuff in CAD to integrate into my bedside laptop stand.
So I knew I could hack this old iPod-dock clock radio easily from multiple approaches, but I finally got around to looking up the display and chips used and it turns out that it is all petty well documented and approachable. Not to mention the hardware build is half decent, especially for an old thrift store junk find. I have to avoid going too far down this rabbit hole and getting lost in the side project, like programming often ends up becoming for me, but it was a nice surprise reading the datasheet and realizing I could mess with it easily. I also seemed to have a few days streak of only encountering nice, real people on Lemmy without any vitriol.
