A Charlottesville pedestrian advocate was arrested for creating a makeshift crosswalk out of chalk. The city manager personally reported him to the police.
In general, you don’t want people making their own crossroads because they need to be done to codes and in the correct place in order to be safe for pedestrians to use.
This was obviously a protest though, and I don’t think anyone would mistake it for a real one.
