Lol, somewhere centrist between the old status quo and full-on fascism. Good to see their still supporting their donors.

This is the opposite of that. They’re shopping around for a more conservative candidate and calling that “centrist”. They called Obama too left. The guy whose most notable achievement was passing a rebranded Republican healthcare bill (which Republicans still treated like it was the most progressive socialized single payer system ever despite it being just about the polar opposite).

Republicans are conservative. The progressive wing of the Democratic Party is too far to the left. Democrats must move toward the center in order to attract more voters. Note the centrist candidate in Romania just won.

It seems like your personal views are a lot more right-wing than normal on lemmy.ml. While you may see yourself as a centrist or leftist, that is not the case for others.

You might feel more at home on a different instance, like lemmy.world. Not only would local posts & users be more aligned with your own politics, you could also avoid the stigma/stereotypes associated with this instance. Even if you move to another instance (Lemmy server), you’ll still be able to interact with most other instances, though some defederate from (block) some other instances.

To the contrary, I welcome criticisms my views in order to know whether they are correct or need adjusting. If you belong to a group in which everyone thinks the same, you will learn nothing. It’s called groupthink. From https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/groupthink.asp

Groupthink is a phenomenon that occurs when a group of individuals reaches a consensus without critical reasoning or evaluation of the consequences or alternatives. Groupthink is based on a common desire not to upset the balance of a group of people.

This desire creates a dynamic within a group whereby creativity and individuality tend to be stifled in order to avoid conflict.

It would be a smart move by Democratics. People prefer centrist views over extreme left or right. In Germany, the centrist candidate won.

Biden let in a flood of illegal migrants. In contrast, Trump closed the border and is deporting all illegal migrants.

Source? As everything I saw showed him cracking down hard on immigrants just as hard as Trump.

A centrist view would be to make it tougher to seek asylum

That’s a violation of international law… That’s very far from centrist.

allow illegal migrants who meet specific criteria to stay in the US and apply to stay.

And Dems would have to move left to reach that.

This should be the centrist position. Egypt will be given the West Bank enlarged by land equivalent to the Gaza Strip. In return, Israel will be given the Gaza Strip and land at least 3 times larger than the West Bank in the Sinai Peninsula. Some of the land will be adjacent to water so Israel can build desalination plants. The Sinai is inhospitable, and Egypt doesn’t have the technology to develop it but Israel does. With its new land, Egypt can give it to the Palestinians, make it a state within Egypt, or whatever it wants.
