In Texas, if you can’t pay bail, it can be years (until the statute of limitations runs out). If you can pay bail, you can get out the next day, but can be out on bail for years (which can come with restrictions of personal freedoms, and is public record [hope you don’t need to find a job during that time]), with court dates every few months, and the DA resetting at the last minute.
