i’ve done the same, and old markup formatting makes shit look stupid unless you take time to comb over it in preview. it’s kinda part of the reason i don’t like it that lemmy won’t let you do ninja edits.
I don’t know if I just blocked the troublemakers early, but I haven’t seen any of the sniping over edits that was occasionally there on Reddit, at least. But yeah, I get annoyed when I have to edit a whole comment just because of formatting or a typo.
i don’t think i ever saw one of those edits go unnoticed, though, and they were usually pretty funny whether intentional or not. i just want 30 seconds or so to go ‘oh fuck’ and add a hyphen sometimes.
