I was watching “Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back (Official Music Video)”, and one line is “A lot of simps won’t like this song”, and I didn’t know that the word was so old!

Perhaps, perhaps not. But the following verse shows simp to be synonymous with punk (derogatory)
