I thought I would save some time by asking my wife to help plate. I turned around and found the eggs on top of the sausage gravy. Lesson learned. Never ask for help. Be fully independent.
I see nothing wrong here other than maybe the eggs being a little over cooked. 🤷🏻♂️
She forgot to add the bacon to the plate I think.
This is a poverty house. We don’t do bacon and sausage in the same meal.
Cook with love. Sounds cheesy, but it matters. I’ve cooked angry before and the food sucked. We eat what we have and how you cook makes a world of difference.
It’s not an issue of feeling. It’s about money. Can’t afford both bacon and sausage at the same time.
BURN HER!
No seriously, I’d eat the shit out of that! With a good coffee.
I prefer mine less done and my wife likes theirs almost browned. This is my compromise when I’m not going to cook two batches.
I feel your pain. I like over medium and sunny side up, she’ll puke.
The old Denver vs. French omelet.
Aside from it being untraditional, I don’t see the problem.
It all looks good, but the eggs on the gravy is not something I’d want, personally.
Same. Thus the paragraph.
I’m afraid divorce is in order. I’m so sorry.
Americans eating like they have free healthcare
If you saw my blood work you’d wonder what kind of mutant I was that everything is within the healthy range.
Americans? I’ve never seen something like this in America. The biscuits would be under the gravey, eggs on the side, and maybe if you"re a freak like me mix the jelly with the gravey 👽
Is that jam with eggs? I am not American I don’t know what is going on here
In a "traditional’ American breakfast with eggs you get a choice of protein like bacon or sausage, eggs cooked a few different ways, some kind of starch like potatoes or grits, and a bread option like toast or [American] biscuits. On that bread option you can put butter or jam. I had extra [American] biscuits and with as heavy as the sausage gravy and eggs were going to be I put some jam on them to offer a little acidic brightness to the mix.
This meal was basically 300 grams of pork, three eggs, 120 ml of cream, 170 ml of milk, and 40 grams of butter with 140 grams of flour mixed in. That’s per person. It’s all fat and carbs. A little contrast with acid in the jam helps liven things up a little.
Yeah that’s a lot of food. But it was my only meal of the day.
Sounds great, and now I know what sausage gravy is I will be trying it myself, thanks!
Ketchup with eggs, am I right bois?
No. It’s not her fault. She’s doing the best she can, after all. It’s just that… you can’t depend on women. You can’t depend on anyone. Sooner or later, you need to learn that no one else is gonna take care of you. That’s what I learned when I had to make my own sandwich. You can’t rely on other people, BoJack.
I mean no disrespect… But what is this dish supposed to be? I feel like i’m having a stroke looking at it
Biscuits and gravy with eggs and a side of biscuit and jam.
Oh no. Did you then make Sandwiches by flipping the jam biscuits over the gravy biscuits?
I added the jam biscuits after they had made the error. They were just some sweet acid in the side to balance the fat.
Why not just put things in bowls so everyone can assemble it how they’d like? No problem with pre-assembling, I just usually do the “everyone make theirs how they want”.
For biscuits and gravy, the gravy is traditionally served directly on the biscuits for plating. Also, I usually bring her dinner to her after plating and putting it on a tray. So I’m not in the habit of even having her in the kitchen while I cook. So build your own isn’t really a thing here.
That’s fair. I’ll plate things for my family as well when it seems like it’s needed. Didn’t realize this dish was one where it’s needed. I’ve only had biscuits and white gravy once, and it was a hotel continental (free) breakfast. Pretty delicious, but I’m positive it can’t compare to the proper dish. I don’t think it even had sausage in the gravy.
Also yes, I hate having people in the kitchen as I cook haha.
I’ll hope to have it proper some day. Thanks for your reply.
the only mistake is me not getting any
i’ve never had eggs and sausage gravy, but it sounds pretty good.
was it any good?
Delicious. But make sure to season things. Lots of pepper in both and some cayenne in the gravy. Otherwise it’s one big fat fest which can fill you up faster than you can finish.
Sausage gravy is the bomb. Can make bacon gravy the same way, too.
that’s the opposite of a mistake
I like butter+jelly and butter+peanut butter on my biscuits, but never both. I also like making sausage gravy with cream cheese instead of flour most of the time. Looks yummy anyway, even the eggs right on top ;)
I’m allergic to wheat and corn, so I usually end up with potato starch gravy
I wonder if it works with vegan cream cheese?
It does :)
Task failed successfully.
Now she never has to plate up again ;)
I looked at the picture and thought “that cant be good” until I saw the sauce under the eggs.
Looks fantastic, minus the sponge bread.
How was it supposed to be served?
Eggs to the side.
