The Tumblr post is a comment on commercial media engaging in the sanewashing of reality.

What is that title you added though? Seems to suggest that the Trump entourage immanentizing the Eschaton right now is somehow comparable to anything Democrats have to offer. If so, why?

How did you reach that conclusion about my comment?

I truly think that the title says something completely different than the Tumblr post does.

So you’re saying it’s a response to the meme itself? If so, I am puzzled as to what it’s supposed to mean.

I think this is what they were confused by. The quote they said was from Family Guy where Peter doesn’t know what “shallow and pedantic” means, and repeats it after someone says something using other big words he doesn’t understand.

Now I see. What I meant was (as Wikipedia helpfully translates) “hastening the apocalypse”.

Wikipedia also helpfully includes a paragraph that explains where I know the expression from:

In Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson’s fictional The Illuminatus! Trilogy, the evil scheme uncovered late in the tale is an attempt to immanentize the eschaton, a secret scheme of the American Medical Association, an evil rock band, to bring about a mass human sacrifice, the purpose of which is the release of enough “life-energy” to give eternal life to a select group of initiates, including Adolf Hitler.

You may notice that there’s a plotline similarity here between the book and the US under Vance’s/Thiel’s accelerationism ideology as well the Silicon Valley obsession with eternal life.
