Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would like to ‘delete all IP law’ | TechCrunch
Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter (now X) and Square (now Block), sparked a weekend’s worth of debate around intellectual property, patents, and copyright, with a characteristically terse post declaring, “delete all IP law.”
X’s current owner Elon Musk quickly replied, “I agree.”
This is not what anarchism means 🙄 Go back to your ancap hideout.
While I agree, IP laws have come so far from their original purpose that they now do much more to stifle innovation than to bolster it.
Still, just because a dumbass said it, doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. (Broken clocks, and all that.) I’m pretty sure this is just lip service, though, as I’ve no doubt that Tesla and spaceX both have huge patent portfolios that they wouldn’t be keen on losing.
I’d hope to have hard time finding an anarchist defending IP laws
Don’t equate pretending that Elon Musk is an anarchist is at all the same as defending IP laws.
I don’t, it’s a joke
Not a good one 🙄
Only went from pretending we were defending IP laws to claiming it was a joke when we weren’t buying it.
The original message from @poVoq@slrpnk.net implied support for IP laws.
The title is a joke, granting someone a title without the qualifications referencing to the honorary doctorate musk got from Yale university…
