The plot:
pilot?
He didn’t stutter
Aileron? Rudder?
Finally some good fucking plot
Day 326: Still searching for the meme
The backstory, not the plot, surely
Love those lore deep dives.
You kid, but I’m fully aware that I find Adria Arjona impossibly attractive, and that because of that she makes Bix that much more appealing to me.
But she did do a fantastic job playing the character. It’s too bad she hasn’t been in too many things aside from Andor that are actually good. There is pretty much just Good Omens.
Firm plot
Much like Andor as a whole, incredibly mid.
Bro the show is named Andor
Not dumpy girl who’s dead show
I used to consider myself a Star Wars nerd. I even enjoyed the prequels. Decided not to bother with the Mandalorian once I read that it doesn’t take place in TOR era, and I’ve never even heard of Andor. I never thought there’d be so much Star Wars content that I don’t even WANT to see it all.
If you appreciated Rogue One, you’re doing yourself a disservice by sleeping on Andor, NGL.
I don’t even remember anything from Rogue One, so I think it’s safe to say it didn’t engage me.
That’s anyone else’s fault how, exactly? 😅
Same, don’t remember the movie at all. But Andor is really good, imo the best they did in decades.
damn, my favorite star wars movie for sure
I liked Rogue One, but felt that Andor was one of the least engaging characters. He was the person who did what others told him to do. In S1 of Andor I found him to be a very passive protagonist. He fell into situations, things happened around him and the whole thing was very unsatisfying.
Unless he gets a “cause” in S2 I suspect I’ll be hate watching it.
Season 1 detailed the radicalization of just a guy who was just trying to keep his head down under fascist regime.
Did you also somehow manage to miss all the other characters in Andor?
You can point out the river at their hooves, but certain donkeys simply won’t drink. Your effort is appreciated, though. 🤷🏼♂️
No I didn’t miss them, but neither did I enjoy them. The most interesting to me was …
Reveal for a negative take on the series
…the antique dealer who was also the brains behind the birth of the rebellion, and by juxtaposition Mon Mothma finding her role. Characters with agency shaping their life. However, this was a tier 3 subplot and didn’t really advance very much over the course of the 9 episodes.
The female ISB officer may turn into someone interesting, but is currently too remote from the rest of the story. The downtrodden imperial that lives with his mum, and then goes head over heals for Miss ISB… It was all I could do not to FF his scenes.
The characters Andor left behind where he grew up did nothing, so when Andor’s surrogate mother dies and gives a postumous speech it meant nothing. It’s easy to speak out when you’re dead and have nothing to lose.
Who’s left? … The prisoners? I guess this was where Andor showed the most agency of any of it, but again… it’s a bunch of defeated characters for 2.5 episodes until a piece of information lands in their lap.
Maybe S1 is setting the board, and it will all come together in later, but I generally found it slow paced and dull. Most of the characters failed to engage me.
To be fair, most of the new Star Wars material is junk, but Andor is a very strong exception. It uses the Star Wars universe to tell a story well, rather than just try to pander to us fans.
“The Mandalorian” is fantastic space western, and worth watching for what it is, if you can ignore the Star Wars connection.
It might tempt you to also watch “Boba Fett”, which does not stand in it’s own at all, but does weirdly contain a couple of good enough bonus episode of “The Mandalorian” for marketing reasons.
I loved Boba Fett. It refined the space western formula even further.
I don’t blame you for being burned out on star wars content. For me personally i’m getting annoyed by the fact that it’s all shows now and no movies. I will say that i can recommend andor though. That show is amazing in terms of quality and can stand on it’s own feet even without the star wars branding.
Dude there’s always been a ton of Star Wars content you didn’t know about, unless you read 2-3 Star Wars novels and comic titles per month.
It’s a GOOD THING to have niche content for niche audiences. Trying to make everything for the mass market is how we get brainless blockbusters.
