With as much butter as they can physically hold, all of it completely melted, and nothing else.

I dunno, I enjoy the odd Marmite crumpet suppository to get me started on my day.

Toasted but I do deviate from many here by preferring butter (French, salted) with jam (French, often strawberry). Much as the British crumpet is the best bread product, I will bow to the supremacy of French accoutrements.

Butter and marmite or butter and honey. Preferably a couple of the former then a couple of the latter.

Do you toast them on both sides? My toaster has a crumpet option that only toasts one side, which was news to me

Toasted, one with marge and one with either marge or honey. The sweet one acts as a dessert to the sensible marge only one

In the morning, butter. As much butter as possible. If I’m in the mood for a snack in the evening then toast them first, some ketchup, cheese, few mixed herbs and in the microwave til the cheese melts. Crumpet pizza ftw

What unhinged maniac eats crumpets untoasted?!?!

Toasted, lots of proper salted butter, either marmite or jam.

Three crumpets. Twice toasted for the crunch.

Option 1) Just butter on all three

Option 2) A pauper’s layer of butter on all. One topped with mild orange cheddar, one topped with mature white cheddar, one half-and-half. If I’m also making some for the missus, I use the two cheese colours to make cutesy symbols or crudely-rendered pictures on top of the crumpets.

Option 2a) Popped under the convection microwave’s “grill function” for approx 6 minutes and melted until the cheese bubbles.

Option 2b) Quickly and lazily Microwaved for 30 seconds to melt thr cheese.

I use the same routine with “Warburton’s Potato Cakes”.

Immigrant heathen here. While I DO toast it (1.5 rounds, until the top is right crunchy), butter it with decent butter and put salt on it, at the end I also put slices of cheddar on it, and spin them in the microwave until the cheese juuust melts.

Obviously toasted. I mean what the fuck.

I’m pretty free and easy with the toppings. Marmite is good. Jam is good. Golden syrup is good.

My dad used to make his standard “Sunday night supper” of crumpets with cheese, garlic, sliced tomato, done under the grill cheese-on-toast style. Haven’t had that for ages, but it was awesome.

Well-toasted with enough high-quality butter that the plate is also buttered. With a tiny sprinkling of salt because the ‘slightly salted’ butter isn’t ‘salted’ butter.
