I would say so to ensure these kinds of tackles are prevented in the future. this one looked as in control as one can be, tried tripping him higher up to ensure he catches him but could also go very very wrong at that speed and force.

Also since most people here love the PL, Allan did a similar tackle to Saint-Maximan 2-3 years ago, the latter sprinting and trying to jump over the challenge and Allan tripped him high up with his legs extended and got a red.

at real time, look violent and for sure a red

on slow motion it looks like Vini knows the hit is coming and plays it up in pained expression. yellow with a strong warning

but if it’s a red in the end that’s kinda understandable because he’s not playing the ball

Yellow, I’d say. Not violent or dangerous enough for red, and not a goal scoring opportunity, obviously.

I’m far from a fan Vinícius and Real Madrid, but really? He almost takes out his knee with studs first, and he is so off target that I can’t see any argument that he is going after ball. I’d be furious if a player did this to my team.

His studs are nowhere near Vini’s knee at any point that I can see. They’re facing downward most of the time and only really rise up after his foot is past the left leg.

Agree that it’s 100% an intentional foul, and no attempt at the ball, but that’s not enough for a red card.
