    A Banquet (2022)
Eerie occurence in a forest under a blood red moon causes profound changes in a daughter recently bereaved of her father. A mishmash of folk, cosmic, and a bit of body horror. Looks gorgeous, very slow paced, not bad overall but kind of unsatisfying in an it’s-another-allegory-for-trauma sort of way. For food based folk horror The Feast (2021) is a better bet

    Ginger Snaps (2000)
Rewatched due to getting a nice edition of the trilogy from Second Sight, pleased to find it holds up extremely well. It’s a darkly comic ultimately tragic coming of age story, neatly comparing and contrasting puberty and lycanthropy. Original take on werewolf lore, the transformation progresses throughout the film

    Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)
Didn’t have high hopes for this but it was great. Hits some similar sex/hunger notes but is mainly more concerned with the resisting or giving in to addictions/obsessions/cravings/desires. Notable for a child actress performance from Tatiana Maslany playing a creepy young weirdo really well

Ginger Snaps Back꞉ The Beginning (2004)
leaving this for later, had enough ginger snaps for now
