Hey friends,

I hope this post does not break the rules. Last year I ran Lemmyvision a song contest on Lemmy inspired by Eurovision where communities send songs in their countries’ language. It’s a fun opportunity to discover new music and new cultures.

The people from programming.dev had the fantastic idea to participate by sending a song from a video game soundtrack. I thought it was very fun, and I’d like to invite y’all from blahaj.zone to participate, maybe you could send a song made by a gender diverse person.

For those not in the loop, here’s how it works:

TL;DR

  • From right now and until April 1st, discuss with your community on Lemmy about which song to send to the contest.
  • Submit the song in the Lemmyvision community by making a new thread.
  • On April 2nd, voting will begin, where you will rank your favourite songs in a form. Any song not submitted by this date will not be featured.
  • On April 8th, results of everyone’s favourite songs will be published.
  • You can use !lemmyvision@jlai.lu for any question, this will be the community for updates and results, make sure to subscribe if you’d like to stay in the loop.

You can find all the information needed on this post : https://jlai.lu/post/15932635

Cheers!

So all communities (or instances?) can participate now, not just country-related communities? That’s cool, I like it. I’m not active in any local communities, but the idea of Lemmyvision sounds like a great community-building exercise, and if more communities can participate, that’s even better :3

There’s already Fedivision, where any person with a Fediverse account can participate. Lemmyvision seems to be more about each community presenting their song, and the concept of communities doesn’t exist in most fedi platforms, so ig it makes sense to make it a Lemmy-only thing.
