    I looked it up.

    Positive news of 1620:

    • A peace treaty was signed between Hungary and the Roman empire.
    • The world’s first merry-go-round was built in Turkey.
    • The first (4 string) violin was developed
    • The alphabet for deaf people was created (in Spain)
    • Osaka castle in Japan was renovated. The current state is of this restoration.
    • The ship Mayflower sailed a lot and founded several cities in America.

The ship Mayflower sailed a lot and founded several cities in America.

That was definitely not positive news for the indigenous people.

I’d blame that on the settlers rather than the vessel.

PS. You do not want to see the bad news from 1620.

Nor sail itself, etc. In fact, I’ve never heard anyone single out the actual vessel as noteworthy.

“What’s that? Genocide, yes, yes. But, by God was she a fine sailin’ ship…”

The only thing I can remember ever hearing about the Mayflower was that it delivered beer before it took the Pilgrim Fathers to the New World, so the whole ship reeked of stale beer the whole time.

              Must have been fun.

I’ll take stale beer over bacteria-laden water!

Edit: also, probably not the worst smell in that ship. I can’t imagine those people were well-perfumed even before they sailed for months

They were probably used to the body odor and sewage smells though.

Violin, blech. What a terrible racket those useless toys make with their “pop music.” What on earth is a “Beethoven?” Kids these days with their slang. Give me a good ol’ fashioned tambourine tune any day.
