I am theoretically switching over from Reddit to Lemmy. Finding myself spending more time on Lemmy than on Reddit. Maybe it’s because I am limited to using the desktop and can’t aimlessly browse Reddit on my iPhone. Of late, the only subreddits I cared for were on sports and their matchday threads and r/watches. I found myself aimlessly browsing through r/AskReddit and asking and answering pointless questions.
I’m weaning off gradually until the inevitable closing of RiF. Since the lock down I have only lurked there to follow the current drama and to figure out what I even needed it for. Whenever I see anything of interest on Reddit I’ll look it up here instead. I don’t want to participate on Reddit anymore. Their users have been quite hostile and I don’t really care what they think about anything. It’s a little sad to see a few clueless new users there asking genuine questions about something that I’d usually answer, but even if I want to help that person, I just don’t want to contribute for free on Reddit anymore. I don’t mind helping for free, but if Spez wants to get paid, then he’d better work for the money himself.
