I believe yhe weird guilt-tripping behavior started after a meme appeared during the COVID19 confinement, showing the mascot saying something like “Spanish or vanish.” This massively boosted traffic to the app and led to its enshittification into this engagement-first, teaching-second garbage app they have today. I genuinely enjoyed the mascot before that.
