Again: not mainstream news.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•US Government Seeks Medical Records of Trans Youth10·4 days agoI read that autistic people are almost exclusively left leaning voters who are naturally resistant to propaganda and authority figures. It’s not just that we’re a conveniently sized minority group to target (Nazi style), but we’re also an obstacle (and an extremely convenient scapegoat) just because of the way we are.
I’m also very prone to catastrophic over-thinking, so I’m hesitant to believe they’re planning on killing us. But despite what I might tell myself to make this easier, it’s painfully obvious what’s happening.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•US Government Seeks Medical Records of Trans Youth10·4 days agoI hope you’re right. Trying to live through the complete collapse of American society won’t exactly be pleasant, but it’s better than dying in a concentration camp.
As soon as I saw RFK’s “speech” about his autistic person database, hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I haven’t felt safe since. I have an autism diagnosis from a doctor which I used to apply for federal disability a few years ago. I am absolutely on their list.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•US Government Seeks Medical Records of Trans Youth50·4 days agoWell, this is… wildly disturbing. Is this leading to the American Holocaust? Or am I just being catastrophic again? I had the same thought when they started their database of autistic people.
Gotta keep saying it until people stop using his photos for memes.
So, still boomer humor based on manufactured gender division. Cool.
The amount of upvotes this boomer shit has is just fucking embarrassing. Gender has absolutely zero impact on hair. It’s all genetics. I’m male and my hair is long and thin as fuck.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Caves of Qud wins the Hugo Award for Best Game or Interactive WorkEnglish2·10 days agoPeople are sensitive about this. I didn’t think our opinions were controversial but you got a downvote within a few minutes of leaving your comment. That was fast.
We’re not even criticizing it, just saying it’s not for us. I was born in 85 and used computers in the computer lab at school in the 90s that were too old to even have mice, they were keyboard only. We played educational games on them like Oregon Trail and lots of math games. These graphics remind me of those. I’m just not interested in going back that far.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•Caves of Qud wins the Hugo Award for Best Game or Interactive WorkEnglish1614·11 days agoThe graphics are too primitive for me, which is a shame. I don’t consider myself a graphics snob, but this looks like something that came out 35 years ago.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Games@lemmy.world•[Spoiler] Day 394 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playingEnglish91·13 days agoMaybe I’m the problem for clicking on a post about a game I haven’t played yet, but also maybe if you include a major spoiler as your second sentence, your first sentence should mention the incoming spoiler.
Just a suggestion.
It’s perfect that this has 111 points and no comments. No one has anything to add, we’re all just like “yup.”
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify to raise prices in SeptemberEnglish1·17 days agoYes! It always does the loading spin animation for like 10 seconds before it shows me my downloaded album. And some albums just never work at all. I have to go online and then offline again just to make it work at all, which defeats the purpose of being offline in the first place.
I just started my free qobuz trial though, and canceled my Spotify account. I mentioned their CEO as the reason I canceled.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify to raise prices in SeptemberEnglish1·18 days agoThe offline features on Spotify are abysmal. Half my downloaded albums don’t even work. It’s the primary reason I’m looking for an alternative. How can an app with such a high market share be this shitty?
I would think that it would only apply to AI generated images, but I suppose it would depend on the community. In this comm in particular in which all the posts are images it shouldn’t be too tricky to define. As the technology advances it might eventually be impossible to spot them, though…
Lemmy users seem to overwhelmingly despise AI slop, which makes me wonder why my more communities don’t have rules against it. I would love to be able to report it and have it removed.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto movies@piefed.social•AMC Theatres Looks To Shorten Preshow Following Studios’ Ire – The Dish2·20 days agoThat’s what I’m used to. The way it used to be I made sure I didn’t go into the theater before the time the movie was scheduled to start because that meant watching commercials. I tried that same tactic recently and had to watch almost 20 minutes of commercials before the trailers even started.
The enshitification in late stage capitalism is such a mess.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto movies@piefed.social•AMC Theatres Looks To Shorten Preshow Following Studios’ Ire – The Dish2·20 days agoIt’s mostly commercials. And these commercials aren’t made specifically for theaters either, they’re the same crap they show on TV. Commercials are a deal breaker for me, so I just don’t go to theaters anymore.

List a fucking source.
