  • They can’t have the SmackDown slot, Fox already sold it to college sports and the UFL which will bring in more ad revenue than wrestling.

I’d love for them to be on FOX though, I always thought it was crazy that AEW were trying to put all their eggs into one basket.

Current rumors flying around are it’s possibly a streaming show for FOX’s Tubi service, if so I’d guess it’s likely to be a lot like AEW Dark or Rampage, something they can pair with Collision the way they do Rampage with Dynamite.

Personally Shockwave sounds like the name of a PPV to me, but we shall see.

Also… I love the crazy theories. Reminds me of the stuff back in the old forum days.

  • Based on All Out, it looks like the BCC wants to do the job, and I don’t want it to be Mox.

I think there are four members of the roster I’d personally be happy with…

Wheeler Yuta, not a good talker, but he’s got great ring work and facial expressions also maybe a member of the BCC so if his BCC feud is the end this would work for me.

Jack Perry, might as well go all in on him if you want him to take that next level, but he needs to do something big before we get there.

Daniel Garcia. His work with MJF is a whole new attitude, his dismantling of MJF also appears to be an attempt to move him up the card and it worked for me, I would not be upset if he gets the job done.

My 4th pick that I don’t think has a shot because for some reason he’s been watered down… Jay White.

They are relatively young and I expect all of them to be AEW for a long time and properly booked I’d dig any of them being on top.

    EDIT: Spelling Correction

  • I wonder if it’s going back to the old 9-11 schedule or if it will run in the 8-10 slot instead. I also wonder how much USA saves by dumping that 3rd hour.

It’s crazy to think that a year ago this would be the best news ever, now I’m not so sure, it just shows what a difference a fresh booking perspective can have on the product… I do worry that cutting back will hurt midcard and women’s matches though.

They did seem to imply Netflix was doing 3 hour shows when they made that deal.

  • *Khan was asked about the current status of the company’s media rights. He said it’s a real exciting time and they are having great conversations. Some reports have been accurate about the status of the deal between WBD-AEW being productive and they are still in discussions. He said he feels fortunate that TBS and TNTs still have a great appetite towards keeping AEW. He said they are the best media partner you can have. TBS and TNT give immediate credibility. There’s a history that goes back to the early 1970s. They are still in the process - a long, tedious process - of an agreement. To do an agreement for all the events and things they are working on is a really big deal. There are some great things to come and there’s excitement on each side and jt’s great to have that sort of mutual collaboration. There’s been a lot of really good conversations about streaming. Obviously, they own and operate MAX. He said “this is going to work out really well for AEW and their fans.”

From PWInsider’s coverage of the ALL OUT Media call. Clearly seems to be teasing putting stuff on MAX, but I bet it’s going to be on MAX’s more costly sports tier that’s supposed to be coming. I really hate this all in one basket strategy though, WBD is in deep trouble financially, if I were guessing which “Legacy Media” company would go out of business first, I’m looking at them. Also I am still slightly concerned over this extended negotiation term, it’s just so weird when every other sport negotiates a year ahead of time, even WWE had deals in place at the start of this year.

  • For years Bryan Danielson was one of the top stars in WWE and crowds all over the world were constantly chanting “Yes” to show support for Bryan. Back in July, Bryan Danielson filed to trademark the “Yes” catchphrase, but it appears that WWE took notice.

It seemed clear they didn’t care because it wasn’t merch. The minute he went after a trademark their lawyers did their thing.

Although, I’m not seeing anything in the Trademark portal that shows WWE ever had a trademark on Yes other than an abandoned trademark on the Yes Movement. Maybe they have it under a different name, but I only see D-Bry’s pending application.

What I’m going to guess is going on is the provision in most talent contracts that state anything created during your time here belongs to the company and not the individual just based on this:

“Well so, it’s weird. I applied for it (‘Yes’ chant trademark) but then I got — it wasn’t necessarily a cease and desist. I got some sort of legal letter from WWE (he laughed). Listen, listen, it’s really weird because my manager just texted me and said, ‘Hey, this thing is available. Do you wanna get it?’”

“And I was like, ‘How much does it cost?’ And it wasn’t that much and I was like, ‘Okay, sure’ and then, shortly after that, I got an email from WWE saying, oh, ‘This is infringing’ on this or that or whatever and I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I just do my thing.’”

This is why trademark trolls are a big deal, about 10 years ago the filing fee was only $250 per category you wanted to trademark in. So if he wanted it for clothing that’s 250, for him to use on live events another 250, etc. As for the final part, if you aren’t planning on selling anything and just doing your thing, well then why did you want it?
