It’s lowball for most governments. Should most of the world not condemn Israel’s reaction because at one point they did something similar?

still, two shot in side a church and suddenly it’s terrorism. (also, at this point, every one expects the spanish inquisition.)

          That’s really not the case…

He condemned the whole thing 3 weeks ago as terrorism. He said it again 2 weeks ago too.

Problem is, people are so eager to jump on the “religion bad!” bandwagon that they’ll take any bait they can, even when they really don’t know what they’re talking about.

Sure, there’s plenty to hate on, but this isn’t it…

The Muslim imaginary sky dictator isn’t part of the Christian imaginary sky dictator’s plan to end the world (but like in a good way!) like the Jewish imaginary sky dictator’s followers are.

If you think about it, the Christian special relationship comradery with Judaism is a super patronizing relationship in that sense. “yeah, we can be friends, just stand… right over… Here. Right here.”

    My immediate thought.

Is he going to declare a crusade to protect the Christian pilgrims in the holy land?

He’d be a little late. The same assholes on the Temple Mount who were horribly mistreating Muslim pilgrims to juice up the Hamas leadership’s casus belli have also been spitting on and assaulting Christian visitors from all over the world for years. Francis might as well head to Malta and fire up the bat signal for the still-existing Knights Hospitaller so Doctors Without Borders can get some backup.

Not all Christians are Catholic. A fair number of denominations were created specifically because they didn’t like what the Vatican was doing.

I have always considered Zionist Christians an oxymoron. Don’t forget it were the original Usurers who plotted against Jesus

Zionist Christians are not an oxymoron; they make perfect sense. The key is to understand that it isn’t about altruism toward the Jews, whom they don’t give a flying fuck about. It’s about shipping all the Jews to Israel (and away from everywhere else, BTW) because Revelations says the Jews returning to Israel is a precondition for triggering Armageddon and the Christians think they’re gonna get Raptured. Christian Zionism is 100% selfish and anti-Semitic.

This is completely retarded, therefore, probably, what the most fundamentalist Christians actually think. Although I’m pretty sure most Christians around the world don’t actually give a fuck about Zionism

Isn’t it a major theme of the New Testament that we all would have killed or deserted Jesus? Isn’t that the point of the story of Peter (Jesus’ bestie) denying him three times?

You are 100% right. There’s plenty of food for thoughts and no truth in those words, we should all read them, reflect, bexome better people and move on the same way we do when we watch star trek episodes.

If everyone stopped taking 2000 yeaes old fairy tales so literally, we would all be much happier as a society.

So was harboring the head of the fascist Ustaše in the Vatican and smuggling him out to Argentina using the ratlines after WW2 - and keeping the loot the Ustaše brought with them. So were the Catholic forced conversions conducted by members of the Franciscan Order during WW2. The Pope can hand back the stolen treasure to the owners and release the documents from that period if he wants to make a believable denouncement of religiously motivated atrocities.

Until the Vatican is willing to address its own genocide and make amends, this is just hypocritical hot air and puffery.

Sure. I just think most people can be less hypocritical in calling it out because we’re not the head of state of a country and top representative for a religion with extensive history of the same acts. I don’t have the power to direct an entire economy’s resources or have the adoring audience of millions globally, but he does. So he ought to be reminded of his own abilities, and the rest of us shouldn’t just let the Vatican forget its own self-declared immoral actions.

He can make geopolitical statements and direct his flock as he pleases, and I will continue to call him out on his bullshit. My position on the core truth of his statement does not alter my position on calling out hypocrisy.

When will he declare all terrorism? Isn’t there a phrase somewhere about those without sin throwing the first stone?
