If only the US were still doing science, we could study how beneficial this lack of air travel was for the climate.
There’s a bunch of studies on the days post-911 and during Covid that are quite interesting. When planes are flying there’s more CO2 and the contrails have an insulating effect on the climate and global warming leading to cooler daytimes and warmer nights.
I saw some of those during the early part of the covid pandemic. It’s interesting, if only we could convince enough people to do less.
I’m optimistic. I scaled back flying because I can have 10 zoom meetings in the time it takes to fly across the US for one face to face meeting. People realize the efficiency, granted you can’t beat personal relationships.
I like the people that say it is decline due to the exchange rate. While a favourable exchange rate is nice, a negative one has never impacted travel to this extent. Canadians we can do better - we can get this up to 90% or more of a drop! Go Canada Go.
Are people actually arguing that? The USD/CAD has only been close to parity relatively briefly about a decade ago. A 70% drop doesn’t get explained by that.
That’s a rather stunning drop
Elbows UP!
Transborder flight
Yeah that word is probably removed by Musk from all airports in USA now.
Now it’s CIS border flights, meaning Canadians are perfectly happy staying in Canada.
